The problem with retirement is that it is a shock to our system. We have spent our last 50 years with a schedule we were required, of necessity, to keep and now we find ourselves with nothing to do. That is why so many people die soon after they retire.
Retirement requires that we have kept our health and some money. The third requirement is what many people miss. That is the requirement to have planned your activity. It is never too late.
Begin with leaving your heirs something other than money. What they would really treasure is a writing and/or video recording of you telling them about your life. Leave them a legacy.
Ben Franklin said, "If you are not to be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, you must write something worth reading or do something worth the writing."
How much would you treasure a book written by your great grandfather about his life, regardless of the spelling or grammar?

(In my case I became interested in history when I was about 45 and now that I am 70 my interest is greater)
